In its basic form, the classic Daiquiri is just rum, lime juice and a little sugar. The second most popular version is to add a small splash of maraschino liqueur. From there, the variations are endless. Fruity frozen versions of the drink are most popular. This recipe works well for a variety of fresh fruits including strawberries, cantaloupe and other melons, peaches, kiwi, pineapple, mango, papaya, passionfruit, or whatever else looks good at the farmer's market.
For the optional splash of liqueur, try one that complements or matches your fruit choice, for example Midori with melon, Creme de Banana with Bananas, etc. |
| Ingredients: |
2 ounces rum 1 ounce lime juice 1 teaspoon confectioner's sugar or simple syrup 3/4 cup fresh fruit of choice (see note above) 1/2 ounce of maraschino liqueur or Cointreau or other liqueur (optional) about 1 cup of ice lime slice, mint sprigs, and/or fruit slice for garnish |
| Instructions: | Blend all ingredients together in a blender until smooth. Garnish with mint sprigs and/or mint springs or a slice of whole fruit. |
