These colorful cards are so much fun to make. You are literally arranging flowers -- paper flowers -- to make a gorgeous greeting card bouquet. No two come out exactly alike!

These cards are great for all kinds of celebrations, such as birthdays, Valentine's Day, Easter, Mother's Day or just to let someone special know you are thinking about them.

The Technique

The technique for making these cards is simple. Start with old floral greetings cards or floral printed scrapbook paper -- you will need two or more copies of each individual flower, more is better.

Take scissors and cut out individual flowers and leaves (this is good busy work to do while watching television). When it comes to assemble the card, arrange a variety of cutouts to your pleasing in a base layer.

To get the three dimensional effect, use pop dots foam adhesives to layer leaves and petals over the base flowers. There is no right or wrong way to make your arrangements, which is half the fun. Sometimes you will layer an entire flower cutout over its duplicate on the base of the card. You can get even more details by layering individual petal and leaf cutouts on different areas to really give the bouquet dimension. Another tip is to layer the number of pop dots you use, so some petals will rest higher than others on the paper.

One of the best parts of this project is that you get to be creative and play. I like to cut out lots of paper flowers and other elements (like butterflies or dragonflies) in advance, so I have lots of options to experiment with when it comes time to assemble the cards (you can also make lots of cards fairly quickly this way).

Gather various sheets of floral patterned paper, or old floral patterned greeting cards together. Spend some time and cut out a bunch of different flowers at once, then all you have to do is come up with an eye pleasing arrangement when you get down to actually making the card.
