Fans of modular crochet have a lot to celebrate with this extremely well produced book. Of course you get detailed directions for 200 crochet blocks, but all the finished blocks come out the same size, so you can happily mix and match all the designs in this book. The custom afghan (and other project) combinations are endless.
In addition to the blocks, the author also includes instructions for twelve stunning afghans you make right now. Even better is the advice on various ways to combine the blocks in the book, and how to play with texture and color to create distinct looks and diverse styles of your own design. From deco, to traditional, stripes to geometrics, simple designs to elaborate motifs, there is something here for all tastes and all skill levels. If you're new to crochet, basic how to crochet instructions will get you up to speed in no time.
The book is well written and produced, with lots of full color photos. An index of full color thumbnail photos of all 200 blocks makes it easy to find the designs you're looking for, and also helps when designing projects.
We loved this ingenious book as the mix and match aspect of the crochet blocks allows even beginners to come up with their own unique combinations and designs. Making the squares is also a great way to use up leftover yarn scraps in a practical and decorative way.
