Author Notes:

We used a variety of paper crafting tools and techniques to make this elegant card, including vellum paper and ink embossing. Don't worry if you're new to any of the techniques, there are links to instructional tutorials in the Ralted Projects and Features sections below.

When I designed this card, I didn't stop, I also came up with four other card designs that use the same rubber stamped image. Click here for details and directions for the other cards.

Supplies: a large card blank ( the cover of ours was 5 1/2 X 7)

a piece of blue dot patterned scrapbooking paper the same size as the cover of your card
a piece of vellum
large dreidel stamp (see 1. below)
blue rubber stamp ink
blue embossing powder
embossing heat tool
a dry embossing tool and light box or an embossing tool like we used -- the Fiskar's Shape Boss tool
adhesive (we used a glue stick and spray adhesive)

Instructions:

dradel_card2.jpg1. The ornate dreidel stamp we used for these projects is made by Ruth's Jewish Rubber Stamps. If you don't have this stamp, you could use another large design stamp instead. Using blue ink, stamp the dreidel on the vellum paper. Cover with blue embossing powder, shake off the excess and use the embossing heat tool to set the powder. Click here for more details in our embossing technique tutorial.

2. Apply a thin coating of spray adhesive to the blue dot patterned paper (you can alternatively run this piece of paper through an adhesive machine like the Xyron machine). Glue the blue dot pattern paper to the front of the card, completely covering it.

3. Use a dry embossing tool and a light box and template, or the Fiskar's Shape Boss tool to create a dry embossed border for your dreidel. Click for the dry or stylus embossing tutorial.

4. Carefully cut the vellum around the border embossing design.

5. Apply some adhesive (we used a glue stick) to the back of the vellum under the dreidel design. Do not put adhesive on other areas of the vellum or it will show through on the finished card.

6. Center the embossed vellum on the card front and stick down.
