I'm pleased to let you know that the Jewish diabetic with a Kosher palate can now feel confident in consuming very healthy and delicious recipes from Healthy Helpings -- 800 Fast and Fabulous recipes for the Kosher - or Not - Cook. Cookbook author Norene Gilletz. Gilletz, one of Canada's "national treasures," is its leading author of Kosher-style cookbooks. Once you see Healthy helpings you'll understand why. With over 800 recipes for all Jewish holidays as well as the rest of the year, along with holiday table and menu suggestions, shopping hints and pantry suggestions, culinary and dietary tips and facts, the book is very comprehensive. Each recipe has a complete nutritional analysis including carbohydrate counts, and diabetics can feel confident in using them. Norene worked very hard to keep the carb counts low, and as we diabetics know, carbohydrates are the major source of blood sugars. Norene also knows the value of adding personal anecdotes regarding the recipe's history, taste and the availability of ingredients. Her personal motto is "Food that's good for you should taste good!" She also offers variations and/or substitutions for the recipes, whenever possible. |
