According to Kartar Diamond, author of Feng Shui for Mommies, our creativity and productivity are directly related to prosperity, an indirect benefit of Feng Shui.

Feng Shui is a predictive art and a natural science that helps us to make the most of our living and working environments. We can implement what is known as “prosperity directions” that can benefit the entire business beginning with the workplace.

One easy means to achieve employee health is to create productive work environments. Many companies today provide health workshops to benefit employees. Some companies even offer meditation breaks or designated rooms for quiet time and reflection, hoping to improve creativity among workers.

Because Feng Shui is considered “preventative care,” the practice has become a part of the corporate landscape. The lesson is that the recommendations that are good for health are good for prosperity in which Feng Shui is now playing a sizable role.

One reason why Feng Shui has a reputation for being powerful and seemingly magical is because one change or one remedy can often work on several different areas at once. Consider that for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction. In Chinese medicine, if you strengthen the liver, it can work as a catalyst to strengthen the heart, which in turn can strengthen the spleen. In the manner in which all parts of the body are related, so are elements of our workspace.

If your workspace is harmonious, it is likely an environment that is supportive of your creativity and likewise your productivity.

Begin by making your visitors to your workspace feel welcome with an inviting décor. Blank walls should be broken up with paintings or mirrors.
Look around your office for obstacles that are considered a “poison arrow” (Old-World term). This might be a column with a corner that you face. Soften the corner by placing a tall plant on your desk or drape a piece of fabric along the column.

Negative energy flow can affect or exacerbate health issues. Sitting with your back to the door is an example of negative energy.
Whenever possible, your desk should be placed at a diagonal to the doorway or directly facing it.

Did you know that water in the right location can improve health, money flow, and relationships simultaneously? Since it is unlikely you will be able to bring water into your workspace, a photo of a running stream or waterfall will do nicely. An image of flowing water is superior to an image of a placid lake. Any pleasant and meaningful image will do.

Consider the corners of your office. Which is your best personal area? To know this, you’ll need to learn your personal Trigram to determine your best corner of the room. Your Trigram depends on the year you were born. For women: 1970 Chen (East), 1971 Sun (Southeast), 1972 Ken (Northwest), 1973 Chien (Northwest), 1974 Tui (West), 1975 Ken (Northeast), 1976 Li (South), 1977 K’an (North), 1978 K’un (Southwest). These Trigram names repeat every nine years, so you can quite easily figure out which is your Trigram name and then your best personal direction. If the back wall of your office is a Southwest wall for instance, then you have a K’un office, since K’un is the Trigram for Southwest. Keep this section of your office tidy and attractive.

With just a few improvements, your office can become a place of creativity, productivity, and prosperity.
