If you’re like most women you probably put more thought into selecting the outfit you’re wearing than you did in choosing the sheets and bedding for your home. Perhaps you were short on time; maybe a tight budget constrained your options; or, perhaps you simply underestimated the impact great bedding can have on your home decor and on your level of comfort.

Select Comfort’s Classic Charcoal Bedding SetWamsutta

Featuring shades of charcoal and ivory, this set is appropriate for both men and women and can be easily complemented with bright, bold colored pillows. It’s also reversible, giving you the opportunity to switch out styles without having to purchase additional bedding.

Forget what’s “in,” go with bedding that makes you happy

While many design experts say that soft colors and simple designs are in, Surmelis actually encourages you to go bold.

“Bedding, more than ever, is where we are expressing our unique sense of fashion. Have fun with it. Experiment with the colors, patterns, and textures you may have wanted to try with other bigger purchases. With bedding, you can afford to take style chances without spending a lot or feeling like it is a permanent choice,” he explains.

Straight from Surmelis’s new collection, this set features strong, bold colors with a simple design that keeps the bedding from being too overwhelming.

Kids’ bedding even adults will like

Avoid cutesy prints and bright, flamboyant colors

“If you want your kids' rooms to have personality without making you cringe every time you walk by, give them a more sophisticated color palate you can stand and they'll dig,” suggests March.

In addition, strive for bedding that will stand the test of time, says Susie Fougerousse, president of Rosenberry Rooms.

“This can be easily accomplished by sticking to classic colors and patterns that can adapt to your child’s changing tastes,” she explains. “Along with superior styling and design, it is essential that your child’s bedding is practical, durable and washable. Kids are kids, and spills, accidents, and the like are bound to happen.”

According to Fougerousse, this set is a perfect example of great bedding for a boy’s room.

“Simple patterns and textures, in classic, yet bold colors, make this a versatile set to grow with your child. With some small changes in room accessories, this set is easily adaptable for a 2 year old or a 12 year old,” she explains.

For a girl’s room, Fougerousse recommends this set, saying, “The damask pattern is ageless and decorative. The twist is that the green is a punchy lime, which breathes life and youth into this traditional look.”

I bought some very high thread count Sateen sheets only to discover that they pill. Do all Sateen have this tendency? Which sheets would be best to assure that no pilling takes place (I am like princess and the pea!) thank you! mary
